Deadly Rehearsal
About the project
A first-person horror game insipred by Mortuary Assistant, Deadly Rehearsal is an unreleased IP for Kaigan Games that I worked on during my internship at the company, and later as a full-time game designer.
During my internship, I performed a variety of tasks in relation to the game, most of which were given by my supervisor.
I conducted preliminary market research into the game's potential competitors, and created several mechanics for the game under the direction of my supervisor, making the appropriate visual aids, diagrams and mockups for them, as well as documenting everything in the appropriate locations.
I also discussed these mechanics alongside other changes and ideas in-depth with the team and gave feedback on new features as they came in. Additionally, I worked closely with programmers to ensure that features were implemented as per the vision of the designers, smoothing out any issues that arose from either side.

As a full-time member of the team, I created proposals and documents for new game mechanics, set dressing, horror sequences, and a variety of puzzles for the player to encounter.
I brought these proposals to the team for continuous feedback in order to constantly improve their design, and to ensure that their implementation would be as smooth as possible. This involved regular discussions and adjusting the documents to have clear visual aids and diagrams to reduce the possibilities of miscommunication.
